Clayton is such a busy little man. He is practically running now and is into everything. He took a little hiatus from eating fruits, but he's liking most fruits again now, especially blueberries and strawberries. He has recently become extremely attached to his blankie. If he drops it or doesn't remember where he put it, he starts saying "tss, tss, tss" really fast until we find it. It's really sweet, but I can already see the future meltdowns if for some reason it is forgotten or lost. I found it online, so I plan to order a few backups. Clayton's hearty laugh continues to light up our lives. He is all boy, totally fearless, loves figuring out how things work, opening and closing things, and especially enjoys using Mommy as a jungle gym and roughhousing it with Daddy. His big news is that he had surgery to open up his clogged tear duct on June 30th. It was a pretty terrifying day for all of us, but the procedure was very fast (20 minutes) and his eye looks amazing! The poor guy always looked like he was crying and often woke up with his eye sealed shut. We are so thrilled with the outcome thus far and hope the duct remains open and clear so that future procedures aren't necessary.
Chloe continues to be our happy, sassy, girly girl to the max princess. She isn't walking yet, but I imagine it will be in the next month or two. She crawls at warp speed though and really doesn't seem to have any issues with keeping up with her brother. Her top two teeth aren't quite in, but they are right there about to pop through. Chloe isn't attached to a specific thing at this point, but finds great comfort in sucking her arm. Poor girl gives herself hickies! She loves playing outdoors and especially loves her little swimming pool and sand and water table. At first Chloe seemed to treat sand as a delicacy, but I think she realizes now that it isn't quite as tasty as she once thought! She is a little birdie who eats anything and everything. I am so grateful that both of my children love good, healthy food...hopefully all of the hours I spent making their baby food paid off. She continues to melt our hearts with her perfect smile and genuine giggle.
Both Clayton and Chloe are struggling with sharing right now. Clayton always wants what Chloe has. Their game is she picks up a toy, he snatches it out of her hands, she screams, he runs off, Mommy intervenes by giving the toy back to Chloe and explaining to Clayton that he can't take toys from her, gives Clayton a different toy, he then throws a tantrum, all while Chloe watches. Tired yet?! And then press the "repeat" button over and over again and you have a look into a day in the Carlos Family home!
